Panama Canal Locks Railway

This view of the Panama Canal Locks Railway was taken at the Gatun Locks on the Atlantic side of the canal. Visible is much of the railway system at this location for accommodating the wide-gauge tow locomotives, or "mules." Two mules are visible at the bottom corners with a line between them to tow the cruise ship; to the left and right various facilities for servicing the mules are visible.

Photographed by Allan Hicks, 1980.
Added to the photo archive by Frank Hicks, April 23, 2008.
