Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

It's off to work we go for TriMet WES DMU #1003 and trailer coach #2001 as they ease out of their Wilsonville, Ore. layover yard to begin the afternoon schedule.

The signal at the left of the photo marks the end of Centralized Traffic Control and Automatic Train Control, and the beginning of Track Warrant Control for southbound trains. The near track is the Wilsonville station lead; the center through track is the P&W, former BN/OE line.

The WES route, as well as adjacent approaches on the former BN/Oregon Electric and SP Tillamook Branch ROW, is equipped with remote signalling controlled through the Portland & Western operations center in Albany, Ore.

The WES DMUs and the Portland & Western diesels that operate on the route are equipped with cab signals as an extra layer of safety.

The WES train will cross over here and reverse into the Wilsonville station platform to board passengers for the first afternoon northbound run to Beaverton.
